REwatch the 2024 iowa Manufacturing Forecast
2024 IOWA Manufacturing Forecast
Iowa’s economy is resilient, but challenges remain over labor shortages, ongoing high interest rates, elevated prices and moderating economic growth. Some manufacturers in the state have started reporting layoffs. During its Manufacturing Forecast, the Business Record will discuss how manufacturing and Iowa’s economy are faring and look ahead to 2025. A panel of leaders from the manufacturing sector will discuss how companies are coping with these challenges, the effects on capital investment decisions and strategies to find and retain skilled workers. We will also discuss how companies are planning as economists forecast fewer interest rate cuts in 2024 than originally projected.
PANELISTS
Heather Bruce, president & CEO, Osmundson Mfg. Co.
Luke Mohrhauser, managing partner, McKee, Voorheese & Sease
Tom Root, associate professor, Drake University
Lori Schaefer-Weaton, president, Agri-Industrial Plastics Company
MANUFACTURING Forecast
“Iowa manufacturers for the most part aren’t carrying a lot of debt. They were in a pretty good cash position, and they didn’t have a lot of inventory, which now is sort of a double-edged sword. But they’re in a position to pick up pretty well, and boy, most of the manufacturers that I talk to feel like the future is pretty bright.”
